Jeon Jung-kook, also known as Jungkook, was born in Busan, South Korea, on September 1, 1997. The ARMY fondly refer to him as “Kookie” or “Golden Maknae,” which means “golden youngest,” because he is the youngest member of BTS.
Jungkook tried out for the Korean talent program Superstar K in 2011, when he was still a teenager. He didn’t advance to the finals, but a few talent companies, including Big Hit Entertainment, took notice of him after his audition. He started his training there and, in 2013, he joined BTS as one of the group’s four primary vocalists and a dancer.
Three solo songs by Jungkook have been included in the BTS discography: “Begin” in 2016, “Euphoria” in 2018, and “My Time” in 2020. All three songs reached the top 10 on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. Additionally, he performed “Stay Alive” on the BTS-based webcomic 7Fates: Chakho. He also appeared on Charlie Puth’s 2022 single “Left and Right,” which debuted at number 22 on the American Billboard Hot 100.
