He spent his childhood in the rural setting of Geochang County, where he was raised as the eldest of three children, alongside his younger brother and sister. V is a member of the Gwangsan Kim clan, a prestigious lineage in Korea.

From a young age, V displayed a strong passion for the arts, particularly music. His aspiration to become a professional singer began in elementary school, where he was captivated by the power of music and the idea of performing on stage. Encouraged by his supportive family, V started taking steps toward his dream by learning to play the saxophone in middle school, which further fueled his love for music and performance.

V’s journey to stardom took a decisive turn when he accompanied a friend to an audition for Big Hit Entertainment in Daegu. While his friend was the one originally auditioning, V caught the attention of the scouts and was encouraged to audition as well. His unique voice, charisma, and potential as a performer stood out, leading to his recruitment as a trainee.

After years of intense training in singing, dancing, and acting, V made his debut as a member of BTS in June 2013. Initially introduced as a hidden member of the group, his presence was a surprise to fans and added an air of mystery to the group’s debut. Over time, V has become known for his deep, soulful voice, which adds a distinctive richness to BTS’s music, as well as his versatility as an artist.

Beyond his vocal talents, V is also admired for his unique personality and creative flair. He has contributed to BTS’s music not only as a vocalist but also as a songwriter and composer. V co-wrote and produced several tracks, including his solo songs “Stigma,” “Singularity,” and “Inner Child,” which showcase his ability to convey deep emotions through music.
